Compare four San Miguel de Allende venues for an intimate wedding, including published capacities, hotel buyout terms, event cutoffs, and questions to ask.

4 Intimate Wedding Venues in San Miguel for 80 Guests or Fewer

Casa Arca has the clearest published terms for a wedding of 40 to 80 guests. Casa de Sierra Nevada has several named spaces within that range. Casa 1810 Collection and Hacienda El Santuario both market intimate weddings in Centro, although neither currently publishes a complete capacity chart for every event space.

That difference matters. A hotel may describe a wedding as intimate without confirming that dinner, dancing, a ceremony, and a rain plan all fit the same guest count. Use this guide as a shortlist, then request a floor plan and proposal for the exact space.

Compare the space, not just the maximum

Casa Arca has the most specific small-wedding terms

Casa Arca is on Relox in Centro. Its official wedding page separates the poolside terrace from the interior-courtyard restaurant, which makes it easier to understand what each option is designed to hold.

The terrace lists 40 guests seated or 70 for cocktails. Hosting an event there requires a two-night buyout of all 22 suites, and the published event cutoff is midnight. This can work well for a couple who wants the hotel to function as the center of the weekend, provided the room commitment fits the budget and guest list.

The restaurant lists a seated range of 55 to 80 and a cocktail capacity of 100. Events there may continue until 10 p.m. The 55-person minimum makes the restaurant a poor match for a 25-person dinner even though it appears in an intimate-wedding search.

Why we like it

Casa Arca publishes the information couples usually have to request: separate seated and cocktail capacities, a room-buyout condition, and event cutoffs. Those details make a first comparison possible before scheduling a tour.

Ask whether the ceremony, meal, and dancing can all use the same space. If the plan depends on both the terrace and restaurant, request a schedule showing the transition and the terms for reserving each area.

Casa de Sierra Nevada gives small groups several choices

Casa de Sierra Nevada, A Belmond Hotel
Luxury Resort
📍 Hospicio 35, Centro, San Miguel de Allende

Casa de Sierra Nevada, A Belmond Hotel

✦ Best for multi-courtyard celebrations & luxury Belmond hospitality right in Centro Histórico.

Capacity150 seated

Casa de Sierra Nevada publishes event options for groups from 8 to 200, but three named spaces fall directly within this article's range. Salón Guitarras holds up to 50. Patio Santa Elena and Cactus Terrace each list up to 80. The hotel also publishes a full-property buyout for up to 74 overnight guests.

These numbers describe different settings, not one flexible room. A group of 80 may fit the maximum published count for Patio Santa Elena or Cactus Terrace, while a seated layout with entertainment or a weather plan may require more space. Salón Guitarras can be a better comparison for a smaller indoor event.

Why we like it

The property lets a couple compare a salon, patios, terraces, and gardens without leaving Centro. It is especially useful when the wedding weekend includes more than one hosted event and the couple wants each gathering to feel different.

Request the capacity for your exact layout, not only the venue maximum. Ask what a buyout controls, which guests can stay on site, and whether the proposed backup room is reserved for your date.

Casa 1810 needs a space-by-space proposal

Casa 1810 Collection
Boutique Hotel
📍 Casa 1810 Centro and Casa 1810 Parque, Centro

Casa 1810 Collection

✦ Boutique hotel collection with panoramic rooftop terraces (Trazo 1810) overlooking La Parroquia.

Casa 1810 Collection operates Casa 1810 Centro and Casa 1810 Parque. Its official event page names Terraza Trazo, the Trazo dining room, Reserva de la Familia cellar, Terraza Tené, and Tené's restaurant and bar areas. It also publishes 33 rooms across the collection.

The page explicitly mentions intimate weddings, but it does not publish a reliable guest capacity or music cutoff for every named space. A recommendation must therefore start with the room assignment. The cellar may suit a private dinner, while a terrace may support a ceremony or cocktail, but the property should confirm the actual plan.

Why we like it

The collection can connect lodging, in-house dining, and several event moments in Centro. The two-property structure also creates more questions than a single-space venue, so the written proposal matters.

Ask the proposal to identify the property and reserved area for every event. Confirm guest capacity by layout, rain backup, exclusive-use terms, catering or minimum spend, music cutoff, outside-vendor access, and transportation between the two hotels.

Hacienda El Santuario is worth considering with a current floor plan

Hacienda El Santuario
Boutique Hotel
📍 Aldama 41, Zona Centro, San Miguel de Allende

Hacienda El Santuario

✦ Traditional colonial casona with a tranquil central courtyard and peaceful Aldama street location.

Capacity70 seated

Hacienda El Santuario's official events page markets its central courtyard and terrace for weddings and private celebrations. Its Aldama address is in Centro, and the hotel can combine an event with on-site lodging.

The current page does not publish a complete capacity table. That means it belongs on a shortlist, but not with an unsupported promise that every layout works for 70 or 80 guests.

Why we like it

The courtyard and terrace give a smaller wedding a residential hotel setting without sending guests to a countryside property. It may suit couples who want some guests to stay where the celebration takes place.

Bring the full event footprint into the capacity conversation: ceremony chairs, dinner tables, bar, music, dance floor, catering work area, and covered backup. Ask how many rooms can be held, whether lodging is required, and when outdoor music must end.

A smaller guest list does not remove venue minimums

An 80-person maximum and a 40-person wedding are not automatically compatible. A hotel may require a full buyout. A restaurant may publish a minimum guest count. Food and beverage minimums can remain substantial even when fewer plates are served.

Ask every venue for the same information:

  1. Seated and cocktail capacity for the named space
  2. Minimum guest count, site fee, room commitment, and food and beverage minimum
  3. A scaled floor plan with ceremony, dinner, bar, music, and dancing
  4. The reserved rain space and its capacity
  5. Event cutoff for each indoor and outdoor area
  6. Accessibility from the street, guest rooms, and restrooms
  7. Catering, rentals, power, sound, candles, and outside-vendor rules
  8. Setup and breakdown times

Keep the guest experience compact

One advantage of a smaller wedding is the ability to reduce unnecessary movement. A welcome dinner, ceremony, and reception do not all need to happen in the same room, but each transfer should earn its place in the weekend.

If guests will walk through Centro, check the route for cobblestones, hills, lighting, and step-free access. If the venue and hotel are separate, assign transportation instead of assuming everyone will find a taxi at the same time. Our San Miguel wedding transportation guide explains how to build the route sheet.

A callejoneada can work with a smaller group, but it still needs a route, permissions, a gathering point, and a plan for guests who should not walk the full distance. Use the callejoneada planning guide before treating it as a simple add-on.

I would compare no more than three properties in person after reviewing written capacity and minimums. Start with our San Miguel wedding venues, then ask a local wedding planner to pressure-test the layout, weather plan, and guest movement before signing.
